Salma Hayek to host Serpentine Summer Party in London alongside two Oscar-winning directors

Salma Hayek will host this year’s Serpentine Summer Party alongside renowned filmmakers Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

The trio will helm the Serpentine’s most important annual fundraiser at Kensington Gardens, London, on Tuesday, June 23.

Hosted by Michael R. Bloomberg, Chairman of Serpentine’s Board of Trustees; Bettina Korek, CEO; and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director, the Summer Party helps to ensure that exhibitions and artist projects remain free and open to all.

This year’s event marks the 25th Serpentine Architecture Pavilion - a commission that began with Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry and Oscar Niemeyer, and has since become one of the most significant platforms in the world for introducing emerging and mid-career architects to a global audience

The 2026 Pavilion, titled “a serpentine”, is designed by Mexico City-based practice LANZA atelier. Choosing brick as their primary material, honouring the English garden tradition and entering into direct conversation with the brick façade of the Serpentine South Gallery,

LANZA atelier created a rhythmic structure that moves from opaque to permeable: a bridge, in architecture and in spirit, between the UK and Latin America.

Hayek has built her career around elevating Latin American voices, championing Mexican stories and production on a global stage.

From her early work in Mexico to international success, she has remained committed to cultural exchange, notably reflected in her 2018 visit to Frida Escobedo’s Serpentine Pavilion.

More recently, she worked with Claudia Sheinbaum and Claudia Curiel de Icaza to launch a 30 percent tax incentive for productions in Mexico, reinforcing the country’s position in the global industry.

This summer, that influence extends to London, where she co-hosts the 2026 Summer Party, helping place Latin American creativity at the centre of one of the city’s most iconic cultural moments while bridging Mexican talent with the global stage.

Cuarón is a five-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker known for films like Gravity, Roma, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and A Little Princess.

Iñárritu is a five-time Academy Award-winning director, screenwriter, and producer known for creating psychological dramas focused on the human condition.

Hayek said: "Throughout my career I have been driven by a belief that Latin American voices, stories and creativity belong at the centre of global culture, not at its edges.

“The Serpentine Pavilion has always understood this. When I visited Frida Escobedo’s Pavilion in 2018 I felt it immediately - a Mexican architect in conversation with one of the world’s great parks, on her own terms.

“LANZA atelier’s a serpentine continues that dialogue, and I am honoured to be part of celebrating it.
