Sally Lindsay reveals why she's been back on the Coronation Street set

Sally Lindsay revealed today the mysterious reason she was recently spotted on the set of Coronation Street .

Speaking on This Morning, the actress praised Corrie and hinted she would very much be up for making a return sometime in the future.

The 46-year-old starred as barmaid Shelly Unwin from 2001 to 2006 and has since racked up a number of high-profile dramas under her belt, such as Scott & Bailey, Mount Pleasant and Ordinary Lies.

Sally sparked rumours of a return to the Street after being spotted on the TV programme’s set - but today she revealed she had been back to film a documentary about the soap's 60th anniversary.

She said: "It's basically a load of us that have left and have done quite well, we talked about our memories of the street and how that set our careers up.

"So I did this little 10-minute interview, didn't think anything of it. Then the next minute I'm going back to the Street. I was like, that's the first I've heard."

Speaking about whether she would return to the cobbles, Sally said: "I'd never say never. I loved it, it was brilliant. It still is brilliant."

Sally’s most recent programme is Channel 5 thriller Cold Call, which starts tonight which she stars in with Melanie Kilburn, Taj Atwal and Daniel Ryan.

She plays June Clarke, a victim of fraud who is determined to find out the identity of the criminal enterprise that targeted her.

This Morning airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
