Salisbury train crash sees 50 firefighters called to scene

More than 50 firefighters have been called to the scene of a train crash near Salisbury this evening.

The emergency services have been called after two trains collided at Grateley, which borders Wiltshire and Hampshire.

Police and firefighters have been called to the line at between Salisbury and Andover, Wiltshire Live reports.

The incident was first reported just after 7pm.

All lines between Westbury and Southampton Central are blocked.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "We are currently at the scene of a train crash involving two trains between Andover and Salisbury.

"We are responding with the fire and ambulance service at the site close to Grateley. Will update as soon as we have more information."

Great Western Railway said disruption is expected between Salisbury and Grately.

A spokesman said: "We've received reports of an incident currently under investigation between Salisbury and Grately.

"Train services may be disrupted through the area.

"More information will follow."
