Salih Ozcan is Rangers transfer target with enquiry reportedly made about Germany Under 21 star

Rangers are interested in signing 1.FC Koln midfielder Salih Ozcan.

The German Under 21 international is out of contract this month and Kicker reports that the Scottish Premiership champions have made their interest known.

The central midfielder would bolster Steven Gerrard ’s options in the middle of the park with Bongani Zungu’s loan nit being made permanent and Ryan Jack out injured.

Ozcan spent the 2019/20 campaign on loan in the second tier at Holstein Kiel before making 28 appearances for Koln in the Bundesliga last season.

The 23-year-old is currently with his national team at the Under 21 European Championships and a good showing could mean competition for the Ibrox club.

However. It’s understood Rangers are in no rush to do a deal with other transfer irons in the fire.

However, enquiries have reportedly been made with Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson having done their research on the midfielder.

Striker Fashion Sakala is already on board for next season having agreed to sign a four-year deal, as is midfielder Nnandi Ofoborh after agreeing a pre-contract switch from Bournemouth.

He’ll join up again with former teammate Jack Simpson, who made the move on January deadline day alongside Scott Wright, who headed south from Aberdeen.
