Police officers have issued travel advice following a shooting in Salford as a major investigation takes place.
On the Salford GMP Twitter account officers said: "POLICE INCIDENT - ROAD CLOSURE - LIVERPOOL STREET- SALFORD.
"Please note that due to an on going police incident Liverpool Street in Langworthy, Salford is closed from Cavell Way to the Fitzwarren Street junction with Liverpool Street.
"Cavell Way and Fitzwarren Street remain open."
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "Officers are currently responding to reports of a shooting in Salford.
"Shortly after 2pm on Thursday July 11, police were called to reports that a number of shots had been exchanged between the rider of a motorcycle and the occupants of a car in Liverpool Street.

"The occupants of the vehicle, a blue Renault Megane, fled the scene as did the motorcyclist.
"There are no reported injuries at this time.
"No arrests have been made.
"A scene is in place in Liverpool Street as police continue with their enquiries."

Detective Inspector Joanne Kay, of GMP’s Salford District, said: “There is a large police presence at the scene and officers will be there for some time carrying out their enquiries.
“If you were in the area and you saw what happened, or if you witnessed anything suspicious, then please get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.”
