Salford residents are being told to avoid the area of Worsley Road in Winton as a police incident is ongoing.
Greater Manchester Police have not issued a statement.
However Transport for Greater Manchester wrote on Twitter: "ROAD CLOSURE. Worsley Rd between Parrin Lane/ Gee Lane.
"Ongoing police incident... Please use an alternative route!"
Salford City Council added: "Please see this urgent message and avoid the area of the road closure, thank you."
