Salford Red Devils fans will have their own dedicated matchday bus this coming season

Salford Red Devils fans will have their own dedicated bus to get to and from the AJ Bell Stadium for the 2020 season.

A partnership between bus company Go North West, Salford Red Devils and the supporters' trust, will mean fans will be able to catch the RD1 for home games from Salford Shopping Centre, Irlam o’th’ Height, Langworthy and Eccles.

The scheme will start in time for the team's first home game of the season against Toronto Wolfpack on February 8.

John Roxburgh, operations manager at Go North West said: “Salford Red Devils are giants of the Super League and are at the very heart of the community here in Salford.

“As Salford’s leading bus company, we’re proud to play a part in helping fans connect with their heroes, we’re delighted to be supporting the club with this exciting new partnership.”

Salford Red Devils director Paul King said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Go North West on this initiative.

“Our success last season captured the interest of the local community and it’s important that we feed that interest by ensuring they can attend fixtures throughout what is set to be a very exciting 2020 Betfred Super League campaign.

“The AJ Bell Stadium has become much more accessible than when it first became our home and these buses will provide another, efficient way for supporters to make their journeys.

“I would like to thank the supporters’ trust for their work on this initiative and look forward to it transporting supporters new and old to our home opener against Toronto Wolfpack.”

Pete Brady, chair of the supporters’ trust said: “We are delighted to work with Go North West for the 2020 Super League Season.

“The RD1 service has become an integral part of the match day experience for so many fans and some of those fans wouldn’t be able to get to and from the stadium without it.

“We look forward to building our partnership with Go North West over the coming months, and if the demand is there, we can look to expand this service across the city.”

Tickets for the RD1 can be bought from the driver on matchdays, or online at salfordrlfcst.com.
