Salford Music Festival will go virtual with a huge three-day party next week

Salford Music Festival will be going digital for its 10th anniversary next weekend, with a massive line-up confirmed.

Peter Hook, John Cooper Clarke, and ex-Hacienda heavyweights Graeme Park and Dave Haslam will top the bill of music, poetry and spoken word.

The festival will also champion bright new local talent during its three-day live streamed event, including CityLife Award-winning band LIINES.

The festival normally takes place in September, but organisers have moved it forward in the calendar to bring some 'much needed cheer'.

It's hoped the event will raise money for local charities including Salford CVS, Salford For Good, and Salford Loaves and Fishes, as well as Salford Lad's Club.

Also on the bill is Graham Nash, Clint Boon, Janice Long, K Klass, Ren Harvieu, Jon DaSilva, Ian McNabb, JB Barrington, and Mike Garry.

Poet Tony Walsh - better known as Longfella - will be performing his poetry, as will Argh Kid.

BLANEY, Bianca Alana, Natalie McCool, Elles Bailey, MC Tunes, Ally Kid Cameron, Argh Kid, Mike Garry, Freya Beer, Lone Lady, James Holt, One Sided Horse, and JD Meatyard complete the current line-up.

More artists are still being added, with the full line-up due to be annouced on the Salford Music Festival Twitter and Facebook pages.

The event will be streamed on salfordmusicfestival.co.uk, and the festival's YouTube and social media channels.

Ed Blaney, former manager of The Fall and festival organiser, said: "We wanted to do something to lift the spirits of peope in Salford and all over the world.

"We're all proud Salfordians and it's always been a festival for the people by the people. The line-up won't stop growing, it's amazing.

"The Spirit of Salford campaign and Salford Council has just been going above and beyond, and we want to pay thanks to them.

"We want to highlight the work of these organisations, and thank them for it. The charity groups have been doing so much good in Salford.

"It's a really hard time for people so we hope this will take people somewhere else for a weekend, even if it's just partying in their flat or their garden."

You can tune into the Salford Music Festival at salfordmusicfestival.co.uk on May 29, 30 and 31.
