Salford club closes suddenly after positive Covid-19 test

A club in Little Hulton has closed suddenly after someone reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.

The Top Club, in Manchester Road, West, made the announcement on its Facebook page shortly after 4.30pm today (Wednesday September 6).

A spokesman for the club's member's committee wrote: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we will not be open tonight.

"We have been informed of a positive reported case of Covid-19 within the club we will update you as soon as we have more information.

"Please check this page for updates."

Shortly after the initial announcement, the club asked customers to get tested if they have visited at all since Sunday (August 30).

A spokesman wrote on Facebook: "If you have been in The Club between Sunday 30th August & Tuesday 1st September and develop any of the symptoms associated with Coronavirus, Salford Council have advised you should have a test."

The club's secretary would not disclose with MySalford and Manchester Evening News whether the positive test was from a customer or member of staff. The club added that track and trace was in place and declined to comment further about the situation.
