Salford restaurant praised by locals for creating the 'perfect' summer drink

One bar and restaurant in Salford is tipped to have one of the best summer drinks available, without the need to hop on a plane.

Porta, the Chapel Street tapas joint that also has sites in Altrincham and Chester, has received a rave review for its jugs of white sangria.

While Salford might seem a long way from the Spanish sun, its authentic menu has earned it glowing praise.

There's no guarantee you'll get the weather to go with it, but a user on our sister site 2Chill has recommended Porta as a 'lovely, vibrant tapas bar'.

Giving Porta Tapas Salford her five-star seal of approval, member Ella Glover said: “Porta Tapas Salford is a lovely, vibrant tapas bar in Salford, not far from Spinningfields.

“The staff are lovely and the food selection is great. I have been multiple times before and probably tried everything on the menu at this point.

“The white wine sangria is perfect for a hot summer's day and the outdoor seating is comfortable and accessible.

“My favourite dishes are the broccoli, king prawns, presa iberica and the pastel de natas!"

Sangria is traditionally made with red wine, but Porta also serves a lighter white sangria - and both are available to order by the litre.

What else is on the menu?

Whether or not sangria is your tipple of choice, Porta Salford will definitely give you a taste of Spain and has some delicious dishes on its menu.

Its tapas menu includes:

  • Tomato salad – Colono goats cheese, capers, white onion, oregano, sherry vinegar

  • Chorizo and lentil stew

  • King prawns a la plancha

  • Pan con tomate - toasted bread with tomato & garlic

  • Zamorano cheese with quince

It’s also got a pretty impressive wine list including, of course, the Sangria.

We can’t wait to give this little find a try for ourselves.

Have you visited and agree with Ella's five-star recommendation? Or maybe you've found some other must-try restaurants here in Manchester. If there's somewhere local that you'd definitely recommend to your friends, head over to 2Chill to recommend it there too.
