Salford area 'plagued by anti-social behaviour' slapped with dispersal order

Police have been handed extra powers to order people out of an area in Swinton following a spate of anti-social behaviour.

A dispersal order has been authorised in Mossfield, meaning there will be increased patrols and officers can order people to move on from the area.

It comes following a series of incidents in the afternoon of Wednesday, June 21, which were reported by local residents.

Police have released a map, showing the areas covered by the order.

It will be in place from 4pm on Friday, June 25, until 4pm on Sunday, June 27.

Inspector Lomas, who works in GMP's Salford policing team, also released a warning to anyone who might be behind the anti-social issues in the area.

He said: "The residents of Swinton are increasingly plagued by anti-social behaviour from a small and disruptive minority.

"It is not acceptable to cause local resident's harassment, alarm and distress and I have authorised the dispersal order to disrupt and deter this behaviour.

"You will see GMP officers being visible in your community, in order to tackle the anti-social behaviour that you report and enforce the dispersal order.

"It is my aim to prevent and deter this behaviour from occurring, if you see an officer patrolling within the area, please feel free to stop them if you have any concerns or raise and report any issues with them."
