Sales of iconic 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' t-shirts skyrocket after Tartan Army's Euro 2020 success

A clothing company has seen a massive surge in sales of their ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ t-shirts following the Tartan Army’s qualifier success.

Brutus Gold Boutique has recorded thousands of new sales after Scotland’s victory over Serbia in the Euro 2020 tournament.

The iconic pop song became the unofficial anthem of the men’s football team after a video of them singing the Baccara classic in the changing room went viral.

Thousands of t-shirts have been sold by Brutus Gold Boutique (Brutus Gold Boutique)

The clothing company has now pledged a portion of future sales to the widows of the song’s writer Frank Dostal and Rolf Soja.

The wives are said to be ‘overwhelmed’ by the sales and Scotland’s adoption of the song.

Speaking to Brutus Gold this week in response to the t-shirt sales, Mary Dostal, widow of 'Yes Sir, I Can Boogie' lyricist Frank Dostal, said:  “We are always proud of the fact that our husbands wrote this great song, but the fact that the Scottish team and the nation like this song so much is something new and we know that they would have really enjoyed being part of this football adventure.

“The drummer of my band The Liverbirds lives in Glasgow so, as you can imagine, she is keeping me informed.

“We wish all the Scottish Fans that their team achieves big success and maybe they can even bring the trophy back to Scotland.”

Boutique founder Nigel Fraser Wanless, who is half Scottish, hopes the fledgling brand will spread some much needed joy and positivity to Scots.

He has also promised to unveil a DIY ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ routine so the people of Scotland can practice at home in preparation for the Euro’s next summer.

Nigel, better known as 70s performer Brutus Gold, said: “Sales have been phenomenal and I think we've connected with people that want something other than just tat.

“We want people to have the T-shirts that have been endorsed by the wives of Frank Dostal and Rolf Soja. This is not all about money.

“This is about making people happy and feeling good after some really dark times of late.

“I am so delighted with my Scottish Puerto Rican heritage that I want to teach the whole of Scotland how to do the Yes Sir, I Can Boogie dance correctly.

“And I want to be the official Scottish mascot with the Brutus Gold affair. We want to teach all the mums and dads and everyone in Scotland how to do it.

“I've performed many times with my show for a lot of prestigious events.

“I love Glasgow and I love Edinburgh; they’re some of my favourite cities in the United Kingdom. The Scottish people are absolute party animals. I have so many happy memories.”

The Brutus Gold Boutique has now introduced a new officially licensed Scottish football-themed range after millions of Scottish football fans demanded more of the outlet's ethically made products.
