An inquest has opened into the death of a sales assistant from Wigan.
Andrew Carter, 37, died at home on Chancery Close on April 28, Bolton Coroners' Court heard.
Police coroner's officer Benjamin Dobbs said paramedics were called to Mr Carter's home by partner Katie Glenn.
Mr Dobbs said: "Mr Carter had a history of cannabis and cocaine use.
"Mr Carter had been complaining about back pain and was hot and sweaty.
"Mr Carter collapsed and Miss Glenn called for an ambulance. Upon arrival, NWAS found Mr Carter unresponsive and he was pronounced life extinct at 1.56am."
Area coroner for Manchester West Alan Walsh said that following a toxicology report, the cause of death has been recorded as 'acute myocardial insufficiency'.
Mr Walsh said underlying causes for the death were coronary artery disease and left ventricular hypertrophy.
'Chronic cocaine and cannabis misuse', contributed to Mr Carter's death, the coroner added.
The inquest was adjourned, with a date for the full hearing set to be fixed in due course.
