Sales and profits fall at Iceland, B&M and Ocado chicken supplier

Turnover and pre-tax profits dipped at a family-owned Cheshire chicken supplier behind the Delamere brand, which is sold by the likes of Iceland, B&M and Ocado, during its latest financial year.

Forresters has reported a turnover of £64.1m for the 12 months to the end of March 2021, down from £69.9m.

Its pre-tax profits also dipped from £1.9m to £1.4m over the same period.

The company supplies cooked, coated, raw and kebab chicken, as well as ready to cook Delamere products.

A statement signed off by the board said: "Like all businesses, Forresters of Cheshire Limited and its subsidiary company has been affected by the Covid pandemic.

"Whilst our supermarket customers continued to trade, we have had very little foodservice business.

"We were also impacted by extensive PPE costs, factory modifications for social distancing and the loss of production due to self-isolation."

The company was founded in 1972 by Alan Dilliway-Parry.

Forresters cooks 60 tonnes of chicken daily, which is sourced from its British Red Tractor suppliers.
