A statement signed off by the board said: "Like all businesses, Forresters of Cheshire Limited and its subsidiary company has been affected by the Covid pandemic.
"Whilst our supermarket customers continued to trade, we have had very little foodservice business.
"We were also impacted by extensive PPE costs, factory modifications for social distancing and the loss of production due to self-isolation."
The company was founded in 1972 by Alan Dilliway-Parry.
Forresters cooks 60 tonnes of chicken daily, which is sourced from its British Red Tractor suppliers.
