Saleen Is Building a New Supercar—And You Can Help Design It

Remember Saleen? The American supercar maker behind wild creations like the S7 and the S5S Raptor concept is still around—believe it or not. The company did build the S1 sports car in China through 2020, but now it’s back with a promising new supercar that fans can help design.

Saleen quietly unveiled a concept for its upcoming S11 supercar in Tacoma, Washington, where the vehicle is currently on display at the LeMay Museum. The car is featured as part of an exhibit called "The Birth of the American Supercar," curated in part by Steve Saleen himself.

The full-size clay model offers a glimpse of what Saleen’s next supercar might look like—a sleek, futuristic two-door with massive wheels and a striking red finish. However, the design is still a work in progress for now.

Saleen actually wants you, the reader, to help finalize the look. The company is encouraging museum attendees to choose specific design elements for the exterior and interior that could be incorporated into the final production design.

"It’s an honor to debut our S11 design at LeMay–America’s Car Museum, and gives us an opportunity to hear from American supercar fans at the exhibit and around the world with a special 'American Idle' voting opportunity,” said Saleen in a statement. "Throughout the year, we’ll present design choices to participating enthusiasts, and they can choose design details that will end up in our final product."

Details like pricing and powertrain specs haven’t been announced yet, but the company promises that everything about the new model will be "one louder" than any other supercar on the market. Our best guess? A raucous, naturally aspirated V-8 paired with a manual transmission—in true Saleen fashion.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see it on the road. Saleen says its new supercar is set to make its official debut within the next 12 months.
