CHICAGO _ Chris Sale earned his 15th victory on his seventh try after the White Sox bested the Athletics 6-2 on Saturday night in front of 21,178 at U.S. Cellular Field.
Sale struck out eight, walked three and allowed three hits and no runs.
A day after being held to two hits Saturday by Kendall Graveman, the White Sox banged out 10 on Saturday.
Jose Abreu and Melky Cabrera each were responsible for two. Abreu put the Sox ahead 1-0 with a solo home run in the first, his 15th of the season.
The Sox (58-64) scored twice more with two outs in the second thanks to four consecutive singles from Jason Coats, Dioner Navarro, Carlos Sanchez and Tim Anderson.
Danny Valencia hit a solo home run off Nate Jones in the ninth for the A's (53-70), who added another on an RBI single by Danny Valencia. David Robertson relieved Jones and retired Yonder Alonso and Chad Pinder to secure the win.
