'Sake tap' gives hotel guests taste of Aomori liquor

Hoshino Resorts Aomoriya in Misawa, Aomori Prefecture, has installed a "sake tap" by which guests can enjoy sake from five breweries in the prefecture until April 28.

This is part of a project to increase the consumption of sake in cooperation with breweries in the prefecture that have been affected by the spread of the coronavirus.

Sake from Hachinohe Shuzo Co. in the town of Hachinohe were served until Feb. 23 via the tap set up at the Jawamegu Hiroba facility in the hotel.

From Feb. 24 onward, the tap will provide sake from Momokawa Brewing, Inc. in the town of Oirase; Hatomasamune Co. in the city of Towada; Narumi Jozo-ten in the city of Kuroishi; and Kaneta Tamada Shuzo in the city of Hirosaki. Yams pickled in garlic and soy sauce will also be served as a snack.

The service is limited to hotel guests. The sake will be available from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the snacks from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

"We hope people will try the tasty sake of Aomori, and that will serve as an opportunity to increase the consumption of sake," a person in charge of the event said.
