Sajid Javid sensationally quits in Boris Johnson's cabinet reshuffle

Boris Johnson’s cabinet reshuffle descended into chaos after Sajid Javid dramatically quit as Chancellor.

Javid had apparently been ordered to sack his team of aides, a source close to the former minister said.

The shock resignation follows rumours of tensions between Javid and Boris Johnson’s controversial adviser Dominic Cummings.

Javid said “no self-respecting minister” could accept the condition being imposed.

His aide said: “He has turned down the job of Chancellor of the Exchequer.

“The Prime Minister said he had to fire all his special advisers and replace them with Number 10 special advisers to make it one team.

“The Chancellor said no self-respecting minister would accept those terms.”

Housing Minister Esther McVey, Environment Secretary Theresa Villiers and Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom are also out of the cabinet.
