Sairaj Bahutule appointed bowling coach for India A team's tour of South Africa

MUMBAI: The BCCI has appointed former India leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule as the bowling coach of India ‘A’ team for the forthcoming South Africa tour, according to sources. Saurashtra’s domestic stalwart Sitanshu Kotak is the head coach for the tour, while former Assam cricketer Subhadeep Ghosh will be the fielding coach.

Bahutule, TOI has learnt, has also been confirmed as the spin bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. Besides featuring in two Tests and eight ODIs, the 48-year-old Mumbaikar played in as many as 188 firstclass games, in which he took 630 wickets at 26.00, and scored 6176 runs at 31.83.

Post his retirement, he coached Vidarbha, Kerala, Bengal and was Gujarat’s coach for the past two seasons. He was also the spin bowling coach of the Rajasthan Royals, and in 2017, worked with Australia’s young spinners at Cricket Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Brisbane.
