Saints vs. Jags inactives: Jalen Ramsey to miss third consecutive game

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey has been ruled inactive for the team’s Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints. His absence Sunday will mark the third consecutive game he’s missed since his request to be traded after the Jags’ Week 2 trip to Houston and various other issues that have popped up, including a back injury.

After missing practice sessions and games during weeks 4-5 for various reasons including having flulike symptoms, the birth of his daughter and the back injury, Ramsey returned to the practice field as a limited participant this week. However, despite the belief from Shad Khan that Ramsey would play after a “heart-to-heart” meeting, Ramsey evidently doesn’t feel as though he’s healthy enough to go, which means second-year player Tre Herndon will start in his place with the NFL’s leader in receiving, Saints wideout Michael Thomas, coming to town.

The rest of the Jags’ inactives for Week 6 are as follows:

  • TE Josh Oliver (hamstring)
  • WR C.J. Board
  • RB Tyler Ervin
  • LB Austin Calitro
  • OL Brandon Thomas
  • DT Dontavius Russell

As for the Saints, three of the players who were on their injury report were ruled inactive, including quarterback Drew Brees, who is working toward a return from thumb surgery.
