Saints tied for second-best projected win total in 2019

The New Orleans Saints were one of the best teams in the NFL in 2018, and oddsmakers expect them to remain competitive in 2019. CG Technology sets win totals for several sportsbooks, and they project the Saints to continue to chase a Super Bowl championship.

New Orleans is projected to win 10.5 games in 2019, tying for second place with the Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs. The reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots sit at the top spot with 11 projected wins. Together, these four teams were the finalists in last year’s NFC and AFC championship games.

The gap between the Saints and the rest of the NFC South is remarkable. The Atlanta Falcons trail by two wins at 8.5. They have a narrow lead on the Carolina Panthers at 8. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sit destitute with just 6 projected wins. Barring some major slip-ups, the Saints are on track to win their third divisional title in as many years. And for good reason: they won 13 games last year, and 11 the year before.

This projection puts the Rams as their chief competition for the conference championship. L.A. will have to contend with the Seattle Seahawks (8.5 projected wins), San Francisco 49ers (8), and maybe the Arizona Cardinals (5) as they try to win another NFC West title. It’ll be interesting to see how each reigning division champion handles their rivals.
