Saints sign former Broncos first-round pick Sylvester Williams

The New Orleans Saints announced thirteen roster moves on Monday, including three released players and ten new signings. The news comes on the heels of tryouts during rookie minicamp.

The following players signed contracts with the Saints:

  • Defensive back David Simmons Jr.
  • Defensive tackle Sylvester Williams
  • Defensive lineman Geneo Grissom
  • Fullback Michael Burton
  • Linebacker Colton Jumper
  • Offensive center Marcus Henry
  • Offensive tackle Ulrick John
  • Running back A.J. Ouellette
  • Wide receiver Cyril Grayson Jr.
  • Wide receiver Micah Wright

Henry and Jumper were on the Saints’ 90-man offseason roster last year, while other additions were recently reported. Williams is interesting; the former Denver Broncos first-round draft pick has played six seasons with four different teams, including the Tennessee Titans, Detroit Lions, and Miami Dolphins. He’s more of a nose tackle than a pass-rusher like injured starter Sheldon Rankins, but he might be able to help the team this year if healthy.

Additionally, three other players were waived: undrafed rookies Darnell Holland (a running back) and Darius Williams (a cornerback), and former practice squad defensive lineman Tomasi Laulile.
