Saints rule out Trey Hendrickson vs. Cowboys with neck injury

The New Orleans Saints ruled out third-year defensive end Trey Hendrickson with a neck injury after halftime during their Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. Hendrickson left the game during the second quarter after getting tangled up with Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith, walking to the locker room under his own power but escorted by team medical staff.

Hendrickson has been one of New Orleans’ best pass rushers through the first few games of the season, and his presence will definitely be missed. The Saints activated rookie pass rusher Carl Granderson for his first game this season so he will be able to help fill out the defensive end rotation with starting pass rusher Cameron Jordan.

Marcus Davenport, the other starting defensive end, later went down with his own injury, though it wasn’t specified. Davenport was able to bounce back to his feet and jog to the sideline, but his status is unclear moving forwards.
