Saints round out practice squad with former Colts WR Krishawn Hogan

The New Orleans Saints have shaken up their practice squad, promoting rookie wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey to the active roster while making the addition of quarterback J.T. Barrett official, per the league transactions wire.

They didn’t wait long to find Humphrey’s replacement on the practice squad. As first reported by Rod Walker of The Advocate, the Saints signed former Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Krishawn Hogan. He’ll join rookie Emmanuel Butler and running back/receiver hybrid Taquan Mizzell on the Saints practice squad.

Like Humphrey, Hogan is a big-bodied receiver (listed at 6-foot-3, 222 pounds) with some potential to make moves after the catch. He timed the 40-yard dash in 4.56 seconds at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, but suffered an early-season ACL tear in 2018. He’s worked his way back to impress during Colts training camp, and led the team in receptions (12) and receiving yards (132) during their preseason games. A stacked depth chart kept him from making it through roster cuts, but now he has a chance to catch on with New Orleans.
