Saints-Rams betting line begins to level out, L.A. favored by just 1.5 points

There aren’t many more evenly-matched teams in the NFL than the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams, who have evenly split their last four meetings with two Saints victories and two wins for L.A. On Sunday, they’ll get a chance to decide the leader in recent series history.

And bettors aren’t sure who to take. The Saints pulled off a last-second comeback win over the Houston Texans in Week 1, while the Rams barely left Charlotte before the Carolina Panthers could succeed in their own come-from-behind bid. Each team boasts a roster loaded with talent in all three phases of the game.

Per the latest odds from BetMGM, the betting line has shifted down to favoring the Rams by only 1.5 points. There’s a couple of reasons for that movement; maybe oddsmakers are worrying about the game status of Rams linebacker Clay Matthews and defensive lineman Michael Brockers, each of whom Rams head coach Sean McVay is optimistic can play in spite of injuries but won’t pencil in to the starting lineup just yet. McVay also gave Gurley a day off of work on Friday, calling it veteran’s rest, as the team continues to manage their star running back’s arthritic knee.

Alternatively, bets could be flooding in for the Saints to win this Week 2 matchup, prompting oddsmakers to adjust their expectations.

Whatever the case, there’s sure to be fireworks. The over/under is set at 52.5, and it oddsmakers are clearly hoping the Saints and Rams end up close to it.
