Saints QB Drew Brees seeks return before bye vs. Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals will take on the New Orleans Saints on the road in Week 8. Currently, their starting quarterback, Drew Brees, is out with a thumb injury that required surgery to repair. Expected to be out up to two months, the Cardinals could play the Saints without him.

However, if it is up to Brees, he will play against the Cardinals.

According to Charles Robinson, Brees is eying a return before the Saints’ Week 9 bye. He has “apparently been living in the training room.”

The Saints, who are 4-1 and have won three straight games with Teddy Bridgewater at quarterback, aren’t trying to rush Brees. In fact, they would rather he wait until after the bye.

Whether he returns in Week 8 against the Cardinals or Week 10 against the Falcons, it appears Brees is recovering nicely.

Whether or not Brees can play, it will be a tough matchup for the Cardinals. Playing on the road in New Orleans is no easy task and the Saints have been playing well with Bridgewater.

Getting Brees back would make things even harder for Arizona.
