Saints QB Drew Brees has chance to make history vs. Titans

The Tennessee Titans have had success at quarterback with Ryan Tannehill at the helm this season, but the team’s defense will be up against a major force in Drew Brees this week.

The New Orleans Saints quarterback is coming off a historical performance in Monday’s 34-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.

Brees was 29-of-30 passing for 307 yards with four touchdowns, breaking Peyton Manning’s record for most career touchdown passes (541).

He also set the league record for the highest completion rate in one contest at 96.7%.

In Week 16, Brees can set a record for most consecutive completions if he throws for four straight against the Titans. He currently stands at 22.

Tannehill took note of Brees’ showing, and spoke highly of the signal-caller when he met with the media earlier in the week.

“Obviously, he was on fire,” he said. “Kind of a cool moment for him, a guy that I’ve respected for a long time as a person, as a player. … So to be able to see him break that record, he’s sustained success for a long period of time, and I was happy for him.”

The Titans and Saints are set to face each other at 12 p.m. CST on Sunday in Nissan Stadium as Tennessee looks to bounce back from a 24-21 loss to the division rival Houston Texans.
