Saints players urge Mark Ingram not to leave: ‘Pull (an) Anthony Barr’

The New Orleans Saints players are not eager to see longtime teammate Mark Ingram leave in free agency, taking to social media to try and talk him into finishing his career in the black and gold.

All-Pro wide receiver Michael Thomas came with the jokes, praying, “Mark Ingram about to pull (an) Anthony Barr stay tuned.” Barr recently got cold feet and backed out of his agreement with the New York Jets to re-sign with the Minnesota Vikings. But given Ingram’s contract demands and the Saints’ agreement with Latavius Murray, it’s tough to see a road that brings Ingram back to New Orleans.

Thomas wasn’t the only Saint to say something. All-Pro defensive end Cameron Jordan spoke from the heart, commenting, “To me that’s family… I’ve made a lot of friends in the locker room and I’ve created family ties to some guys. I’ve watched some of the best teammates leave IF this happens for real . . . this one (will) hurt.”

Defensive back Justin Hardee responded to Jordan, writing, “I’m sick (gonna) miss deuce deuce!” referring to their nickname for Ingram, referencing his No. 22 jersey. It’s unfortunate, but the money just isn’t there. Ingram and the Saints realized that they were too far apart in contract talks and decided to go in a new direction.
