Saints passers bested by a guest in second quarterbacks challenge

The New Orleans Saints quarterbacks challenge has become a daily fixture of training camp, helping add some good-spirited competition to the end of each practice session. With fierce competitors filling the quarterbacks room like Drew Brees, Taysom Hill, Teddy Bridgewater, and J.T. Barrett, it’s always entertaining to see them try to put up the best trick shots.

This time, the Saints quarterbacks were joined by Cleo Lemon, one of Brees’ old teammates from his time with the then-San Diego Chargers. And the former NFL passer ended up beating all four of the Saints without a warmup, which Brees admitted shouldn’t have been much of a surprise given Lemon’s resume.

Lemon retired from the NFL back in 2009, though he hung around the CFL for a few more years. Now, he’s the quarterbacks coach at Jacksonville State University, and happened to run into Brees again while joining the Saints on a coaching internship this summer. They’ve both come a long way from competing for the right to back up Philip Rivers in San Diego all those years ago.
