Saints open as 4.5-point home favorites over Buccaneers in Week 5

It’s been a few weeks since the New Orleans Saints were favored to win a game, but that’s the case in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Per the latest odds at BetMGM, the Saints are favored to defend the Mercedes-Benz Superdome by 4.5 points. That’s a far cry from the home underdog status they enjoyed last week versus the Dallas Cowboys.

The over/under is set at 47.5, suggesting a final score of Saints 26, Buccaneers 21. It would be the most points scored by the Saints offense under Teddy Bridgewater, which was helped out by touchdowns on defense and special teams two weeks ago against the Seattle Seahawks and failed to do so last week against Dallas, winning their first game without a touchdown scored since 1998.

Tampa Bay has experienced its own bizarre day on the scoreboard, visiting the Los Angeles Rams and leaving with a 55-40 upset of their own. They were helped out by a Ndamukong Suh revenge game, with the big defensive tackle recovering a fumble and returning it for a touchdown – the final points of the afternoon. Still, possible growth by quarterback Jameis Winston under new coach Bruce Arians can’t be written off — he threw four touchdown passes on the day.
