Saints offense gets in gear, Alvin Kamara extends the lead over Seahawks

The New Orleans Saints special teams scored a touchdown, with rookie Deonte Harris returning a punt 53 yards for six points. Then the defense scored a touchdown, after defensive backs Eli Apple and Vonn Bell teamed up for a fumble, recovery, and 33-yard sprint to the house. After that, it was on Teddy Bridgewater and Alvin Kamara to bring the offense into the party against the Seattle Seahawks.

And that’s exactly what happened, with Bridgewater, Kamara, and the Saints offensive line all getting on the same page for their first perfectly-timed screen pass in recent memory. Bridgewater hit Kamara in stride; he followed a barricade of blockers deep into Seahawks territory to dodge and shrug off tackles from each of Seattle’s starting safeties before cruising into the end zone at his leisure. See it for yourself:

It was a perfectly-timed play before halftime. The Saints will receive the ball to begin the third quarter, and they’re up 20-7 over the Seahawks in Seattle. Not bad for their first game without Drew Brees under center.
