Saints’ loss to Falcons cleans out many knockout pools

It almost seemed too good to be true. The 7-1 New Orleans Saints were at home to the 1-7 Atlanta Falcons. If you were alive into Week 10 of your knockout pool, you had to believe it was a free square into Week 11.

When something is too good to believe, there usually is a catch. In the case Sunday, it came with the Falcons’ defense bouncing back off a bye and looking like it wanted to save Coach Dan Quinn’s job.

After notching a league-low seven sacks in their first eight games, Atlanta dropped Drew Brees six times. Grady Jarrett led the way with 2.5 sacks. Vic Beasley added 1.5.

The Falcons were allowing 370 yards per game but held New Orleans to 310, a chunk coming on a late drive that went nowhere.

New Orleans was averaging 114 yards per game rushing and only gained 52 at the Superdome Sunday.

Guessing many people were thankful they had not used the Baltimore Ravens before Week 10. Lamar Jackson & Co. romped and kept Cincinnati winless.
