Saints injury report: Alvin Kamara returns to practice; Drew Brees still limited

The New Orleans Saints were back at practice on Thursday and have released their second injury report of the week. Two players were upgraded from Wednesday’s report, including running back Alvin Kamara. He sat out Wednesday’s practice with knee and ankle injuries and was able to practice on a limited basis on Thursday. Quarterback Drew Brees, who is attempting his return this weekend after coming back from thumb surgery, was limited for the second consecutive day.

Four players sat out for New Orleans:

  • TE Jared Cook (ankle)
  • S J.T. Gray (ankle)
  • CB Patrick Robinson (hamstring)
  • WR Tre’Quan Smith (ankle)

All four have missed both days of practice this week. Cook missed last week’s game.

Kamara and Brees were the only players who were limited. Kamar had missed Wednesday’s practice and also was not active for the Saints’ game against the Chicago Bears.

Cornerback Eli Apple, limited on Wednesday with a knee injury, was upgraded on Thursday and practiced fully.

The final injury report for both the Cardinals and Saints will come out Friday afternoon.
