Saints hold a home run derby in latest quarterbacks challenge

The New Orleans Saints quarterbacks room takes its daily skills challenges very seriously. Whether they’re competing against teammates or alongside Philip Rivers and the Los Angeles Chargers passers, Drew Brees and backups Teddy Bridgwater and Taysom Hill put plenty of thought into how they can push themselves and each other.

Their latest quarterbacks challenge threw a curveball: instead of tossing footballs, the Saints players came up with a home run derby-style skills contest. They brought in some custom bats from Marucci Sports, and went to work.

In a challenge that values athleticism over nearly any other trait, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Hill went in with an advantage. Still, Brees and Bridgewater gave it their best efforts and walked away feeling like they’d left it all on the field. You can see who won — and who finished in a strong second-place — in the video embedded below, or by following this link:

Saints training camp is entering its final day of practices open to the public, and these quarterback challenges will likely end along with it. It’s been impressive to see how the degree of difficulty in each contest (and the production value from the Saints social media team) has grown over time.
