Back in 2012, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was on the wrong end of a scandal surrounding a supposed bounty system in place on his team where players were compensated for big hits. It cost Payton dearly and based on recent comments, he’s not at all over it.
Payton did a radio interview on Thursday and when he was asked about the latest controversy with the Pittsburgh Steelers, he used it as an opportunity to vent about his past problems and take a shot at the league for what he thinks will be a non-issue for the NFL when the Harrison comments.
Payton makes a great point. This should prompt an investigation even if nothing comes of it. It’s only right for the league to take any situation like this with the same level of seriousness.
If the NFL doesn’t look into this you can bet this isn’t the last we’ve heard from Payton or the national media. The last thing the Steelers need going into such a pivotal season is any negative press.
