Saints CB Paulson Adebo says he’s day-to-day with an ankle injury

Second-year New Orleans Saints cornerback Paulson Adebo wasn’t seen at practice on Wednesday, and we received a quick answer as to why. Head coach Dennis Allen told media after practice that Adebo is dealing with an ankle injury that he sustained against the Los Angeles Chargers.

When asked directly about his status, Adebo said that he is “day to day” with a left ankle sprain. He added that the injury happened in practice before the preseason finale with the Los Angeles Chargers when he landed awkwardly trying to intercept a pass. The Saints have taken it slowly with him so far, and there’s still a week and a half left before the regular season kicks off.

There does not seem to be any major concern around it as of now, but it’s worth monitoring. New Orleans will hope to have Adebo back for their first game against the Atlanta Falcons. The Stanford product is primed to have a breakout second season as the Saints’ second boundary corner, coming off of an outstanding fall camp and preseason. If he sees a setback, look for New Orleans to give either veteran backup Bradley Roby or rookie draft pick Alontae Taylor the nod in his place, though assignments will be shuffled in the wake of the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade.
