Saints announce uniform combination for Week 10 vs. Falcons

The New Orleans Saints announced their uniform combination for their Week 10 game with the Atlanta Falcons: black jerseys and black pants. The all-black look has been their most-popular pairing in recent years, appearing in 18 of their last 44 games (including the playoffs).

That trend extends to the 2019 season; the Saints have worn black jerseys with black pants in three of their first four home games, opting instead for their Color Rush alternates back in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.

The announcement came from the Saints’ official Twitter account, in which they shared a brief video of quarterback Drew Brees taking the field during a game simulation from EA Madden NFL 20. Check it out for yourself:

For the superstitious, the black-on-black combination has been a winning look since Sean Payton was hired to coach the Saints back in 2006. They’ve accomplished a 39-25 record in them during Payton’s tenure, and they haven’t lost a game wearing the all-black uniforms this year. Here’s how each of the different uniform combinations rank going back to 2006:

  • White jerseys, white pants: 2-0 (1.000)
  • Color Rush alternates: 5-2 (.714)
  • Black and Gold throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  • Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-13 (.639)
  • Black jerseys, black pants: 39-25 (.609)
  • White jerseys, black pants: 38-25 (.603)
  • White jerseys, gold pants: 31-24 (.564)
