Saintfield Road: Person taken to hospital after five-vehicle crash

One person was taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash in Carryduff this afternoon.

At around 3.20pm on Monday, January 31, police received a report of a five-vehicle crash on the Saintfield Road.

Following the incident, one person was taken to hospital, while another driver was cautioned at the scene.

Trafficwatch NI reported that the crash took place between Brackenvale Service and Knockbraken Health Care Park.

Drivers were encouraged to seek alternative routes for their journeys as only one lane was open as a result of the incident. Traffic from Belfast was diverted on to Knockbracken Road, while citybound traffic from Carryduff was diverted on to Knockbracken Road South.

Police confirmed at 5.24pm this evening that the road had re-opened to traffic.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Police received a report of a five-vehicle road traffic collision on the Saintfield Road area of Carryduff at around 3.20 pm this afternoon.

"One person was taken to hospital for treatment of their injuries. One driver was cautioned at the scene.

"Enquiries continue."
