Saint Peter’s win over Purdue was shown on the jumbotron at Madison Square Garden and the crowd erupted

Saint Peter’s dream season has captured the hearts of college hoops fans everywhere during the Men’s NCAA tournament. In cutting through their quadrant of the bracket, everyone wants a piece of the No. 15 seed Peacocks. For a good reason: How could you ever root against an underdog?

With their win over Purdue in the Sweet 16, the Peacocks (12-point underdogs coming in) have started to gain ground locally. Based in New Jersey, the Tri-state area can not get enough of their beautiful, suddenly soaring birds.

If you don’t believe me, look no further than Madison Square Garden on Friday night. The MSG jumbotron operators showed the 67-64 final score from the Peacocks’ latest upset in the middle of a Rangers-Penguins game.

And the crowd exploded in jubilation.

The majestic Peacocks of Saint Peter’s are on to the Elite Eight. I think it’s safe to say they’ll have the nation’s full attention and the attention of the greater New York/New Jersey/Connecticut area.
