Saint Bernard pups pick out their Hogwarts houses as they turn 9 and 3/4 months old

Two giant Saint Bernard puppies have been sorted into their Harry Potter Hogwarts houses - and their choices were hilariously accurate.

Thanos and Dunder - who are brothers - turned nine and three quarter months old, and in a nod to the wizarding franchise’s popular King's Cross railway platform, their owner let them pick their own houses.

Typically, young witches and wizards get their Hogwarts letter aged 11, and according to the Pedigree dog age calculator , Thanos and Dunder received their letter slightly earlier, as they would be 10 years old in human years.

In an adorable video, Thanos and Dunder, who live in the USA, were seen wrapped in Christmas lights as their owner explained they’d be choosing their own Hogwarts houses.

For those unfamiliar with the Harry Potter series, these are Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

In the clip, four bandanas are laid out on the floor, with Thanos - named after the Marvel character - choosing first to the tune of Hedwig’s Theme.

There was no doubt in his mind that he was a Slytherin, just like Draco Malfoy.

Dunder, who was named after the American The Office character, was able to pick his house second. He bypassed the Gryffindor and Slytherin bandanas, and decided he was going to be a Hufflepuff.

Both dogs were pictured wearing a sorting hat and their new bandana with a PetSmart toy corresponding to their new Hogwarts house. It comes after the US brand launched their Harry Potter range of pet products earlier this month.

While one viewer pointed out that their names ‘fit the houses’, another asked if their personality matched, to which their owner said: “It’s pretty crazy that they really do!”

Another commenter added: “Slytherins and Hufflepuffs make the best buds.”

Thanos and Dunder were from the same litter of puppies, with Thanos adopted at birth, and Dunder arriving at five months old after his first owners returned him to the breeders.

The American Kennel Club describe the breed as ‘playful, charming and inquisitive’ - and are famously watchful ‘nanny dogs’.

Originating from the Swiss Alps, these gentle giants were used as search and rescue dogs, and are often depicted wearing a barrel of brandy around their neck.

Thanos and Dunder aren’t the only Saint Bernards to give viewers a giggle on TikTok either.

Clumsy puppy Gigi managed to flood her owner's garden with a pool they’d bought to keep her cool in the Californian summer.

The one-year-old pup attempted to clamber into the pool, but soon water was gushing from the edges as the huge dog found itself partially submerged.

In another clip, Roman the Saint Bernard was caught on CCTV in a ‘prison break’ type escape from his garden.

When the two-year-old found himself separated from his siblings, he didn’t hesitate in jumping over the tall gate.

The other four Saintt Bernards, named Lilia, Zvezda, Evita and Falkor, caught on to their brother's antics and decided to give him encouragement and a helping hand in his mission.
