Sainsbury's, part of the 'big six supermarkets', are now set to charge motorists 30p for air in all its petrol stations.
The update comes as many took to social media to complain of the added charge when the service was previously free.
Some have also complained that their machines do not take cash but instead it only accepts chip and pin or contactless.
The supermarket giant have also replaced their free water service with customers taking to social media to vent their frustrations of the new added cost.
One said: "Sainsbury's now charging 30p for air. That’s inflation for you."
Another added: First world problem I know, but Sainsburys are apparently going to start charging 30p for air. The last of the major supermarkets to abandon free tyre pressure checks. A sad day!"
A third tweeted: Who’s bright idea was it to put new air machine at petrol station, so you now charge 30p, that can only be paid for, on a card or phone. I hope your business charges are high for 30p transactions."
A Sainsbury's spokesman said: “We regularly review the services we provide our customers.
"We have invested in the facilities at our petrol filling stations, offering a variety of services including screen wash air towers and contactless payment options, offering even more convenience for our customers."
