Sainsbury's sparks outrage with 'vile' £1 Easter chocolate product

A new snack stocked by supermarket giants Sainsbury's is dividing opinion among its customers.

For it seems that carrots and chocolate flavoured houmous is not to everyone's taste. And customers were quick to share their opinions online.

An image of the new Carrots & Chocolate Flavoured Houmous which is a part of the “Easter Bunny Snacks” range was shared on Facebook page, Snack News & Reviews.

It costs £1 and contains carrot batons and a dip made from cooked chickpeas, golden syrup, sesame seed paste, cocoa powder and concentrated lemon juice.

One contributor said that “this sounds horrible” with a second commenting “not sure how I feel about this…”.

Another wrote: “Not a good mix me thinks.”

Someone else added: “Just throw the whole world in the bin and be done. You've taken it too far."

One shopper tagged a friend and said: “A bit of me tbh...wait I just realised it said chocolate wtf no."

The dispute continued on Twitter.

@Amarcow10101 tweeted: "I am in utter disbelief , to my dismay my local only stock this now all stores in all the sainsburys across leeds! This is a huge change I’m not ready for after having regular hummus with my meal deal for years! What next ? Apricot sausage rolls??! When will it end!"

@akil_93 said: "Why @sainsburys why? Carrot and chocolate flavoured houmous is absolutely VILE. Just stop it. Immediately."

Adam Maidment managed to pick up a pack by mistake after thinking it was normal houmous. He said: "This is my own stupid fault for not properly looking but why is CHOCOLATE HOUMOUS even a thing?"

However, some shoppers like the sound of carrots and chocolate houmous. One commented that they “need to buy” with another person adding “oh that's my cuppa tea”.

You can buy the Carrots & Chocolate Flavoured Houmous in Sainsbury’s stores now or online. Part of the on the go range, the vegan-friendly snack will also be included in the supermarket’s £3.50 meal deal.
