Sainsbury's shopper thanks 'selfless' stranger who saved her in supermarket

A shopper who suddenly collapsed while browsing the aisles of Sainsbury's has praised a "selfless" off duty nurse who rushed to her side.

Rosalyn O'Connor, 23, was with her mum in the Urmston store in Manchester when she became dizzy and lifeless, falling to the floor.

But a quick-thinking hero nurse had seen the commotion while doing her own shopping and instantly rushed over to help.

The "lovely and caring" stranger helped Rosaylyn booster her sugar levels by giving her a Lindt chocolate and helped her into a wheelchair before she was taken to Trafford General Hospital, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Rosalyn said: "I began feeling a little dizzy for a few seconds then began feeling energyless.

“Then I lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor.

“There was a couple stood by me, one of them was an off-duty nurse with blonde hair.

“As I came around, I was still rather weak and quite thirsty so she stayed with me and called for a member of staff.

“My mum then found out and the nurse gave me a Lindt truffle to boost my sugar levels."

After running tests doctors believe a neurological issue or low blood sugar could have caused Rosalyn to faint.

But the grateful shopper has thanked the selfless stranger for her actions and quick-thinking care.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she added: “She was so caring and lovely. Nurses are amazing and so selfless.

“She didn’t have to stay with me but she did.

“It is a beautiful thing knowing that there are people out there who give so much care and compassion and expect nothing back.”
