Sainsbury's rolls out major change that affects all shoppers with a Nectar card

Sainsbury's has announced a major change to its Nectar loyalty scheme that will see it rival prices offered by Tesco's Clubcard deals.

The supermarket giant has launched its own "Nectar Prices", with hundreds of items reduced for cardholders both in store and online.

It is said that the move will rival that of Tesco's popular Clubcard scheme, which is also known for providing its cardholders with lower prices across select products.

Nectar Price products will be clearly marked for cardholders to find, though the deals cannot be found in petrol stations, Sainsbury's locals or concession stores.

The change to the Nectar scheme, which boasts around 18 million members, means that shoppers can now save over 50 percent on Nescafe Gold Blend which has been reduced from £8.10 to £4 for cardholders.

Other savings for members include Heinz Baked Beanz reduced from £1.40 to 95p and Tanqueray Gin which has been dropped from £27.50 to just £19.

Nectar members can access the exclusive deals when they shop in-store by swiping their card or app, or by linking it to their Sainsbury's account when they shop online.

The supermarket giant said of its new scheme: "Nectar Prices is a new pricing proposition that offers digital Nectar customers all-year-round access to a unique set of discounts on products handpicked for them,

"Items will be clearly marked with a Nectar Price label visible on the shelf edge in-store or next to each product online."

The Nectar Prices for cardholders is not the only way that Sainsbury's has been helping shoppers to cut back and save some cash on their weekly groceries.

At the beginning of the year, the supermarket giant expanded its Aldi Price Match campaign by a third in a bid to attract customers as they battled rising costs and inflation.
