Sainsbury’s launches Pokemon Go-style AR game that you can play while you shop

It was the must-play game of 2016, and now Pokemon Go fans will be happy to hear that a similar game has been launched - by Sainsbury’s (unexpected, we know).

The British supermarket has launched its own augmented reality app called ‘April’s Easter Adventure’.

The app tasks shoppers with tracking down an Easter Bunny called April, as well as a lamb, chick, deer, fox and duck, who are hiding around the supermarket (albeit in augmented reality).

Shoppers will be given in-app clues as they walk around the store, revealing where the animals are hidden.

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “We’re always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to innovate and reward our customers.

“This interactive app is a first for Sainsbury’s and is the perfect way to keep the kids entertained during the Easter break whilst parents tick off their weekly shop.

Pokémon GO - update releases Legendary Pokémon!

Google Maps users can now play SNAKE on the app - here's how to access the game

“We’re excited to see families get involved as they search the stores looking for April and her friends this Easter.”

Once you’ve left the supermarket, panic not - the fun continues. Each animal has its own min-game within the app, which can be played anywhere!

The app is free and available on both iOS and Android devices.
