Sainsbury's is selling £5 bottles of Prosecco for the bank holiday weekend

The long weekend is almost here, and to welcome it in, what's better than a nice cold glass of Prosecco?

Just in time for May Bank Holiday, Sainsbury's have slashed the price of some of their bottles of Prosecco to a very impressive £5 - that's little more than a meal deal.

The bargain bottle in question is the brand's new limited edition Prosecco DOC Castello del Poggio, which will be stocked with its £5 price tag at 500 Sainsbury's stores around the country.

Sainsbury's describe the fizz as "a crisp and beautifully balanced Prosecco, the sparkling wine has notes of golden apple, white peach and sweet honey" that pairs perfectly with cured meats.

However Sainsbury's aren't the only ones selling £5 bottles of Prosecco, as Asda have their Extra Dy bottles for a fiver instead of £6, while Tesco have a bottle for £5.75.

Morrisons also have a bottle for £6.25, while Waitrose have slashed the price of theirs from £10.99 to £6.99.

However, Aldi and Lidl both win the prize for the cheapest bottle of fizz, with each of the German supermarkets selling a bottle for £3.99 over the bank holiday weekend.
