Sainsbury’s is now selling plant-based alternatives to salmon, tuna and fishcakes

Sainsbury’s has launched a series of fish substitutes and other meat-free products ahead of World Vegan Day and World Vegan Month.

The supermarket chain has introduced a plant-based substitute for salmon with its Plant Pioneers No Salmon Fillet, alongside other popular fish treats such as the Plant Pioneers No Chuna and Plant Pioneers No Fish Cake, helping customers create the ultimate fish supper.

The No Salmon Fillets are the first of their kind to the market, launching exclusively in Sainsbury’s. Made from a mix of jackfruit and king oyster mushrooms, the fillets look exactly like the real deal. They are also enhanced with seaweed for an added source of omega 3.

Customers can also purchase new chicken substitutes, from the Plant Pioneers No Chicken Buffalo Wings to the Plant Pioneers No Chicken Gyozas.

No meal would be complete without something sweet to finish it off, and Sainsbury’s has got customers covered with the new Plant Pioneers Lemon Cake and Plant Pioneers Chocolate Cake. These indulgent desserts provide the perfect end to a delicious, and environmentally conscious meal.

The range comes as it is expected that 50% of the UK population will follow a flexitarian diet by 2025. In line with this growth, consumers are now looking for more tasty plant-based options ahead of World Vegan Day on November 1 and World Vegan Month.
