Sainsbury's has confirmed one of its Liverpool city centre stores has closed its doors for good.
The supermarket giant decided to close some of its smaller stores for a while at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, though many have now reopened since lockdown restrictions eased.
Back in July 2020, the ECHO approached Sainsbury's to ask if its stores on Bold Street and Castle Street would ever reopen. At the time the retailer said the closures were 'temporary' and that customers would be updated on its plans.

Now, more than a year after closing the doors, Sainsbury's has confirmed that its convenience store on Bold Street has closed permanently.
A Sainsbury's spokesperson told the ECHO : "Our Liverpool Bold Street Local convenience store has now closed.
"Colleagues had the opportunity to redeploy to other roles in the area and customers can continue to shop with us at our nearby stores.
"We understand this will be an unsettling time for those affected and we're supporting them in any way we can."
The Bold Street store has been boarded up since March 2020, but signs in the windows now claim Rudy's Pizza Limited, which already has a restaurant on Castle Street in the city centre, has applied for a premises license at the venue.

Rudy's Pizza Limited declined to comment at this time.
The next nearest Sainsbury's stores to Bold Street are based on Ranelagh Street and Elliot Street.
