Several supermarkets have today recalled a number of chilled and frozen seafood products due to possible salmonella contamination.
Sainsbury's, Co-op, Asda, and Waitrose have all issued recalls for the following products:

Co-op Cooked Mussels (Chilled
Asda Seafood Selection (Mussels, seafood bites and king prawns) (Chilled)
Asda Cooked Mussels (Chilled)
Sainsbury’s Seafood Selection (Chilled)
Sainsbury’s Cooked Cockles (Frozen)
Sainsbury’s Cooked Mussels (Frozen)
Sainsbury’s Seafood Selection (Frozen)
Waitrose & Partners Essential Frozen Seafood Selection, (King prawns, mussels and squid rings) (Frozen)
Co-op Cooked Seafood Selection (Frozen)
Waitrose & Partners Essential Cooked Seafood Selection, (Mussels, king prawns and squid) (Chilled)
Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps and customers who have bought of the above products are advised to not eat them and return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
A risk statement from the Food Standards Agency reads: "The products listed above might be contaminated with salmonella. Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps."
It continues: "The retailers listed are recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notices."
