Sainsbury's announces new shopping card to make it easier for customers in store

Sainsbury's has announced it's launching Volunteer Shopping Cards to make it easier for customers who shop for others.

As part of its ongoing pledge to help feed the nation and keep customers and colleagues safe the supermarket will drop the new card today.

The Volunteer Shopping Card will enable friends and helpers to shop on behalf of the elderly, disabled and vulnerable together with other customers who may not be able to shop for themselves.

The card can be purchased online from today.

Customers just need to visit the dedicated webpage and select how much they'd like to spend on their weekly shop, between £5 – £250.

The E-Gift Card will then be emailed directly to the person shopping on their behalf, which can then be redeemed at checkout in store.

Chief Executive Officer at Sainsbury's, Mike Coup, said: "During this challenging time, it’s more important than ever that we come together as a community.

"That includes supporting those who are kindly helping others to get the essential items they need.

"Our Volunteer Shopping Card will make it as easy as possible for our customers to do so."

The Volunteer Shopping Card can be purchased online at www.sainburysgiftcard.co.uk.
